[How-To] Disable Geo-Location Feature in Firefox

Firefox 3.5/4.0 got released last month and with this release firefox has become a geo-location aware browser. Firefox new version also has brought other cool features with it which include faster javascript engine and a private browsing feature.
While Geo-location feature comes handy when doing searches on websites which make use of the feature and send you only specific links. While its enabled by default, it can be disabled with a simple hack in Firefox.

This article describes step by step instructions for disabling geo-location feature in Firefox 3.5 /4.0

1.) Open your Firefox 3.5/4.0 browser.

2.) In the address bar, type about:config . This will open a page where you can see all the configuration options. You can even filter them using a address bar provided in the page.

3.) At the filter bar, type geo. , this will present with you all the filtered settings starting with “geo.”.

4.) Next, double click on the configuration setting called “geo.enabled“. This will set it to false from default “true”.
