Microsoft issued its largest-ever software security patch, aimed at fixing 64 vulnerabilities in Windows, Office, Internet Explorer (IE) and other programs. The Seattle-based software giant said the patch includes 17 bulletins, including nine judged to be ‘critical,’ Microsoft’s highest threat ranking. Fifteen of the bulletins address vulnerabilities that allow attackers to remotely execute code to take control of the infected computer. The patch beat a previous record set in December, when Microsoft released a patch containing 17 bulletins that addressed 40 vulnerabilities.
