Windows Does not assign a Drive Letter to External Drive

Drive Letter to External Drive

Windows does not automatically assign a drive letter to any of  usb hard drives or flash drives, if You go into the disk management utility the drive is always sitting there online and active, and all I have to do is right click and assign a drive letter and everything work as usual.

However that is super annoying and there is no reason windows shouldnt be doing this for me. I assure you there are no driver problems corrupted drives, jumpers or anything out of whack, I am an IT guy myself. I have just never ran into the situation and couldnt find an answer after looking on here for 20 minutes and googling around and checking other sources.

And the solution was just 03 line command

Open command prompt

automount enable

problem solved 🙂
