How to update Document User Name, User Initials and Company Name in MS Office.

In this Digital world, we want the Document we publish or Send or Share, must have our name, 90% or Document we share is made on MS Office products.

Today we’ll learn how we can update the Documents Author Details in MS-Office Products.

Document User Name & Initials you can change in Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook in application Options by going to Files –> Options.


This process have to be repeated for all the MS-Office applications.

But for Company name, we need to update the value in registry.

To change the Company Name in all Office Product globally, Just flow the given steps.

1. Exit all Microsoft Office programs.

2. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

3. Go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Common\UserInfo


Update the value of Company to the Name, you want to display in Document Properties.

You can also change the User Name & User Initials here too, All the changes made here are global, and apply on all the Office Products.

Checking the Company Name

Open Word, Excel or PowerPoint and go to the option “File > Info > Properties > Show All Properties” in Office 2010 to see the company name is changed to the new name as you entered in the registry editor.
